Starting Salary 

  • Starting salary: $23.42 per hour


  • Associate degree or a two-year college or technical school certificate in Accounting or Bookkeeping
  • 1 to 3 years prior work-related experience
  • Applicant must successfully complete a background investigation

Duties and Essential Functions

The listed examples may not include all the duties performed by all positions in this class. 

    • Process bi-weekly payroll 
    • Verifies that employees in payroll are entered accurately
    • Set up and maintain files needed to process payroll
    • Update Federal and  State of MN and ND tax tables, Medicare & Social Security Limits, and insurance rates for the correct pay period
    • Determines when to implement changes to the organizational files and add new insurance plans, general ledger numbers, labor allocations, garnishments, earning codes, ABT’s, and deductions as needed
    • Creates and processes current monthly, quarterly and year end report by deadlines.  This includes: bi-weekly PERA, quarterly MN Unemployment, Work Comp, W2’s and special payroll requests.
    • Monitors and tracks variable hour employees’ earnings each pay period to determine when they meet eligibility requirements for PERA Enrollment
    • Attends training 
    • Other duties as assigned
