Record Checks

Criminal History Information

Effective June 1, 1997, Clay County Court Administration no longer provides criminal record verifications, searches or history checks.

The central repository for statewide felony and gross misdemeanor criminal history information is the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), which is required by law to release criminal history information; you are strongly urged to contact the BCA at 651-793-2420 or visit the BCA website.

District Court Records

The District Court maintains a record of each case filed in this county only, including felony, gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor cases. Except for specific exceptions, the records of the District Court are open for inspection during regular business hours. You are free to inspect the records, perform your own search and request copies of the file documents for a fee. Court personnel are not available to perform the search for you. Court personnel will assist you in showing you how to use our automated and manual index of records. Please feel free to visit our office during regular business hours of Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
