Radon

Radon is a colorless, odorless radioactive gas that seeps up from the soil. Long term exposure to radon can be harmful to your lungs. For more information please visit the Minnesota Department of Health's Radon in Minnesota Homes web site.

Test Kits

There are 2 types of kits - short and long term.

  • Short-term radon test kits measure radon levels for 2 to 7 days. It is a quick way to screen a home for radon.
  • Long-term radon test kits measure radon levels for a minimum of 90 days. Long term tests are the best way to estimate the average amount of radon in the home during the year.

Short-term radon test kits are available at Clay County Public Health located in the Family Service Center in Moorhead.
