The Clay County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) was established in 2005 to provide assistance during public health emergencies and events. The MRC's purpose and activities include:
Recruit volunteers.
Enroll and check credentials of volunteers.
Establish a database.
Conduct volunteer training.
Deploy planning.
Develop non-emergency public health volunteer opportunities.
The main focus is to develop the corps of volunteer health professionals who can assist in the event of a bioterrorism event or public health emergency.
