CLAY COUNTY C.A.R.E.S ACT SMALL BUSINESS COVID-19 RELIEF GRANT PROGRAM
Moorhead, MN - On August 4, 2020, the Clay County Board of Commissioners approved a $2,250,000 funding allocation to the Clay County C.A.R.E.S Act Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant Program. An additional sum of $250,000 was also approved for community/nonprofit organizations who qualify as a 501(c)3 or 501(c)19. The guidelines of this program were established through a collaboration with Clay County and City representatives with a goal in providing financial assistance to small business owners and community/nonprofit organizations who have experienced financial hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is funded by the Federal Coronavirus Relief Fund, established through Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (C.A.R.E.S Act). Grants of up to $10,000 will be available for eligible businesses with 20 FTE or fewer employees and community/nonprofit organizations. Grants of up to $3,000 will be made available to eligible sole proprietors. All applications are subject to meeting grant criteria. The program is not first-come, first-served and will not be distributed through a lottery system. Grant amounts may be revised based on number of applications received.

Clay County, along with City Officials, will be hosting a news conference to further discuss the Clay County Small Business Relief Grant Program after the Clay County Board of Commissioners Meeting on August 18th, 2020. It is tentatively scheduled for 10:45am.
