The All Clay County Solid Waste Facilities will be closed Saturday, July 3rd through Monday, July 5th. Facilities will reopen Tuesday, July 6th.
The Clay County Landfill, located at 3301 15th Ave S, Hawley, is open 8:00am-4:00pm Monday through Friday. It is also open the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 8:00am to 11:45am. Mixed municipal waste generated in Clay County is accepted for a fee at this site. Appliances including dehumidifiers, air conditioners, microwaves, refrigerators, and more are accepted for recycling for a fee. Tires, mattresses, and furniture are accepted for disposal for a fee. Household recycling, cardboard, scrap metal, and electronics are accepted for recycling with no fee.
The Clay County Household Hazardous Waste Facility, at 2729 Hwy 10 E, Moorhead, is open Monday and Wednesday 8:00am- 4:00pm. The facility is also open the first Saturday of the month from 8:00am- noon April through October. Household chemicals from Clay County Residents are accepted at the Clay County Household Hazardous Waste Facility. There is no fee at drop off. Paints, stains, and garage chemicals make up much of the waste flow at the Haz Waste Facility. There is also a free exchange room at the facility where residents are encouraged to pick up products for their projects at no cost to them.
Recycling for residential electronics is available in Moorhead at 1300 15th Ave North every Tuesday evening from 4:00pm to 6:00pm year-round. Computers, computer monitors, computer peripherals, TVs, fluorescent bulbs, LED bulbs, cell phones, rechargeable batteries, and holiday light strings are accepted for no fee from Clay County Residents at this collection.
