Responsibilities

Clay County Social Services, as an agent of the State of Minnesota, Department of Human Services, is authorized to investigate the abuse, neglect and exploitation of a vulnerable adult. It is the policy of the State of Minnesota to provide safe environments and services for vulnerable adults and to provide protective services for those who have been maltreated.

How to Make a Vulnerable Adult Report:

Effective July 1, 2015, call the Minnesota Adult Abuse Reporting Center (MAARC).

Services

Adult Protection services include:

  • Collaborating with other agencies through the Coordinated Community Response (CCR) Team to address abuse in later life
  • Completing investigations of possible self neglect
  • Investigating alleged maltreatment
  • Petitioning for guardianship or conservatorship, if warranted, or referring to a Representative Payee
  • Providing referrals to case management or other services
  • Taking reports of suspected maltreatment
