Program Services

The Clay County Attorney's Office, in conjunction with the Victim / Witness Program, is committed to providing assistance to victims and witnesses involved in the criminal justice system.

Services include the following:

  • Assistance in understanding victim rights and the legal process.
  • Providing information regarding case status, hearing dates, and scheduling changes.
  • Facilitating contact with other agencies within the criminal justice system.
  • Assistance in seeking restitution or reparations for economic loss resulting from the crime. View the compensation for losses webpage for more information.
  • Offering information and assistance to develop a victim impact statement.
  • Accompanying victims to court and securing a safe waiting area.
  • Offering referrals to other agencies and organizations providing victims services.
  • Offering interpretive services or other specialized assistance and services as needed.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Clay County Victim / Witness Program is to promote the rights and interests of crime victims in all facets of the criminal court system while addressing individual needs caused by the trauma of victimization.

Offender Release Notification

Minnesota Haven: Information and Release Notification

Under Minnesota Law, victims, witnesses and others have certain rights. 

The Minnesota Department of Corrections is dedicated to ensuring that victims’ rights are enforced and victims and survivors have a meaningful voice with the state correctional system.

Individuals must submit a request containing current contact information in order to receive information from the Minnesota Department of Corrections pursuant to Minn. Stat. §611A.06. Request for notification are confidential.

Victim Information & Notification Everyday (VINE)

Minnesota State VINE is a service through which victims of crime can use the telephone or internet to search for information regarding their offender's custody status and register to receive telephone and email notification when the offender's custody status changes. This service is brought to you by your local Sheriff. The VINE toll-free number for Minnesota VINE is 877-664-8463.
