Direct Payment

Sign up today to participate in Clay County's Direct Payment Plan for Real Estate Taxes. It is free, dependable and convenient.

You may sign up to participate in Clay County's Direct Payment Plan for Real Estate Taxes. Your checking or savings account will then be automatically debited the amount of your tax payment. The debit will take place on May 15 and October or November 15 (whichever is applicable). If this date falls on a weekend, your account will be debited on the next business day. After signing up for the Direct Payment Plan, you will continue to be automatically debited the amount of your tax payment until you notify the Clay County Treasurer's Office in writing that you wish to withdraw. You may enroll at any time; however, it is important that you enroll at least 3 weeks prior to an upcoming payment date in order to be included in direct payment for that date. U.S. Mail & Special Delivery

Your payment must be postmarked on or before the due date to be considered paid on time. A penalty for late payment will be applied if the envelope is postmarked after the due date. Payment must be in U.S. dollars by money order, check or draft from a U.S. bank or U.S. branch. The draft or check must have the bank's coded transit number along the bottom edge. Payments not meeting these requirements cannot be accepted since substantial collection fees will be charged by the banks involved. Checks should be made payable to Clay County Treasurer.

In Person Payments

You may pay your Clay County property tax in person at the Clay County Treasurer's Office. A penalty for late payment will be applied if the payment is made after the due date. Payment must be in U.S. dollars by money order, check or draft from a U.S. bank or U.S. branch. The draft or check must have the bank's coded transit number along the bottom edge. Escrow

Your lending institution may be escrowing your taxes for you. This means that you are paying a portion of your property tax in every payment you make to them. Your tax money is kept in a special escrow account. The escrow agent is responsible for paying your property taxes by the due date. Contact your mortgage company or lending institution if you have questions regarding escrowing.
